What is your experience of the Benche?
2011-09-05 10:59 (1393 Views)

A Swedish daily magazine (IDG.se - Strst p IT, dagliga IT-nyheter, tester, forum, guider och nyhetsbrev mm) wrote the first article about the Benche in Sweden and are now doing a follow-up interview. They want to know about our experiences and how the Benche have developed since launch. In order to bring more "meat" to the interview would we really appreciate to get some direct feedback from the members. Please post your experience and/or comment in this thread.

What is good?
What is missing?
What can we do better?

    The good:
Professionals from all over the world that both shares a common interest and has the same needs in terms of information has in the Benche a platform for discussions.

Gives you the possibility to ask a question or put forward a chain of thoughts and get other but in a positive sense similar peoples views and input on the topic.

    Missing:
Activity is missing. Lots of members, Lots of members online but few people participating in the discussions. Leads to relatively few topics and ongoing discussions on the Benche front page.

    What can we do better?:
Together as members increase the level of activity, if we want the Benche to be a good financial tool and point of interaction we needs to be active.

I also believe that the sheriff has done an outstanding job and there is a need for a very active moderator to move things forward from time to time.
    1. Good: variety of subjects and "freedom of speech"- people daring to discuss and openly ask questions about things they do not know/unsure about
    2. Missing: "next level" of discussions: after questions a-là "what is back-to-back LC" (important, but basic) are answered, would be good to jump to next level and discuss more complex/life-related subjects
    3. What can we do better: (see above) + especially for professionals jump over the barrier/limitations(ok, mea culpa, should be more active) and actually share real-life problems. Communities that are limited to professionals (sometimes bank/related specialists) tend to be more open/agitated in the discussions. So maybe not be afraid "to lose face" once in a while
Good luck to us, Benche-members and the Benche!
Have to agree with the previous comments - a forum is as good as the members are, we make it happen.

Naturally, also a constant feed of articles and news initiates discussion. There my gut feeling is we have fair share of articles, but not perhaps enough news? I know the discussion forum side was emphasized in the latest update of the benche look'n'feel, and I like that, but should we have news a bit more visible on the front page, which would generate more daily discussion?

    Just my 2 cents.
Here is a link to the article. Thanks for the input
