  1. Horses and soccerplayers

Securing commercial risks for major industries such as the automotive-, paper and forestry- and metalindustry is a usual element today and historically in the world of Trade Finance. In my personal opinion, Trade Finance becomes even more fun to work with when you hear stories of trade related to not so "familiar goods". One is the story of a soccerplayer. The club buying the player wanted a perfomance guarantee securing that the player has successfully completed required physical and medical tests before "shipment". Imagine if the soccerplayer arrived just in time for the Champions League play-offs to play for the new club and the player is not allowed to play! Securing the import of racing horses is a similar story where the purchasing racing team demanded a guarantee that the horse is medical fit and of course not doped.

If you have any stories regarding securing commercial risks regarding "unusual" goods or services, please feel free to post them under my blog.

    Cheers!
