Weekend again and home alone! Family is in Sweden and coming back tomorrow afternoon and this of course leaves room for a night out with the boys tonight. I have never been for AW in Warszawa but I suppose it is the same here as everywhere else beer and wine but maybe here in Poland it is more a vodka kind of AW. I'm prepared for both options!

No postings for a few weeks here, so I'll make a contribution.

Had an excellent lie in this morning as I was attending a 'building incident coordinator' day and the venue was a five minute drive away. Great to meet people who had to get up really early to -for example- fly from Edinburgh. (My middle name is not 'Schadenfreude' for nothing.)

Tomorrow is the egg-chasing game, aka rugby. The Bees are away to local rivals Coventry. Not optimistic but you never know. Otherwise no plans but might fancy a 'ruby' Saturday evening.

Friday - weekend - December - Christmas mood...
December and Xmas mood is definitely on, grey weather and absence of snow drag it slightly back, but I guess that is why we have good old traditions: once you bake ginger-cookies, light candles on Sunday, go to Xmas market and decorate your place the feeling we are approaching another festive season secures a place in your heart and mind!
On a wishlist this w-e: attend Xmas market and try to squeeze my son in a horse-driven carriage, make second batch of gingercookies (last one disappeared already...) and have some really lovely dinners at home with my family.

With only 2 weeks left it is about time to get some Christmas feeling. This weekend will be full of music to get in the right mood. I will attend 2 Lucia concerts, Friday and Sunday, where my youngest daughter is a part of a big youth choir. This is a very traditional thing in Sweden and perfect way to get you in the right mood. The concert on Sunday will be recorded and aired on radio on the 13th of December, which is the “official” Lucia day. However, Saturday will be something completely different when British rock legends Motörhead will visit the Freezer in Stockholm. It will be a lot of fun!

Will be having a quiet w/e; New Year celebrations do absolutely nothing for me. If it were not for the fireworks at midnight I would be in bed well before (I am a light sleeper).

On that cheerful note, I wish you all a happy New Year.

Today, January 13, is “Tjugondag Knut” - 20 days after Christmas. According to Swedish tradition this marks the end of the Christmas Holiday and the Christmas tree is thrown out, preferably at a big bash.

Looking forward to tomorrows’s Christmas Bash in the office!

My wife is arranging the weekend. Dinner with friends today, dinner with friends tomorrow, birthday part for children during the day on Sunday and dinner with friends in the evening. Luckily I will work next week so I get some rest.

Leaving early today for weekend. Going skiing in the south of Poland with our neighbours. I'm a bit unsure if there is snow but the hotel and sorrounding area seams very nice and I'm sure they have beer and some nice schnitzel.

Oh My God - Friday!!!! Again, but this time with blue sky, sun and promised perfect-weekend-weather! Forget everything and write a long wish-do list for the next days: bike/picnic trip, plant new flowers on the terrasse, start wearing light & colorful spring clothes, cook some crazy-nice dinner for the family to celebrate real, non-calender spring! The season of promises...

It is not Friday but tomorrow AND Monday are bank holidays in the UK. Hoorah!!!!!! Nothing special planned and given the weather forecast this seems sensible. Think I will devote the w/e to Heinkin Cup rugby, unless Mrs. Smith has other ideas!

Good Friday and of course no public holiday in Poland! Just because the country (Poland) is drenched in Catholics apparently does not mean that they like to have a day off. Anyway I’m off to Sweden this evening to spend eastern with my father in law. I’m looking forward to this, very nice food, good company and the kids love the guy.

Ah Friday! This might be a weekend! Banks in Kolkata are closed tomorrow on the eve of local festival. No Swift messages to be sent, no follow ups. Just relax in the office tomorrow! Looking forward to a marriage ceremony on Sunday!

Off to the 'ancient' city of York (York - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) for a long weekend tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the walls, railway museaum, Minster and Goddards Garden (Goddards Garden - Visitor information - National Trust). On the way up will be visiting Nostell Park & Priory (Nostell Priory and Parkland - Visitor information - National Trust). Hope you all have an excellent weekend.

Really enjoyed my visit to York. if you get the opportunity you must go.

This Monday and Tuesday are bank holidays in the UK. We have an extra day to celebrate our monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, reigning over us for 60 years! Unfortunately the weather forecast is pretty poor.

In my company one can 'buy' an extra five days' holiday a year (one's salary is reduced accordingly), which I have done for the last few years. This has enabled me to book off 4 Fridays in succession, today being the second of them. Mrs. Smith & I are very shortly off for our annual visit to Hidcote - Visitor information - National Trust which is just under an hour's drive away. Weather for the reast of the w/e does not look that promising. Hope you all have a good one.
